The village of Jelka is mentioned for the first time in a royal deed of gift in 1197 in the form of ILKA. Later documents mention three villages and three names: Kis Jóka, Nagy Jóka and Újhely Jóka. In the war years 1490-1505 the village was ravaged by the troops of Emperor Maximilian and r. In 1541 the Turks compared the Great Jelka and probably the Little Jelka with the ground and so in In 1553, only two ports are mentioned in the village under the names János Farkas and Tamás Hegyi. The village then belonged to the property of the Buda Poor Clares, later it was owned by influential aristocratic families
