Mária Hollósyová was born on February 1, 1858 in the village of Opoj near Trnava. She died in April 1945 in Cífer, where she is also buried. In 2001, its municipal council granted it the Honorary Citizenship of the municipality of Cífer in memoriam. Hollósyová ran an embroidery school in Cífer, which in 1895 became part of the Izabella women's association. The association gave vocational training and work to hundreds of women not only from Cífer, but also from the wider area. At the World's Fair in Paris in 1900, the association won the highest GRAND PRIX award.
