The unemployment rate exceeds the 30% limit. The demographic structure of the village is extremely unfavorable, obsolete. In order to improve the generational situation, the municipality built 14 rental apartments for young families with children, and carried out the reconstruction and expansion of the existing water supply network. Local citizens are engaged in agricultural activities, cattle and pig farming, beekeeping, growing cereals, fruits and vegetables. A significant event in the village was the establishment of the Dynamo Horná Potôň-Lúky Physical Education Unit in 1966. At that time, TJ had one club, a football club. The small village had great footballers who played excellent football at the time. In those times, the football team easily conquered the teams of Gabčíkov, Šamorín, Orechová Potône, Horná Potône, Lehnice, Vydran, Zlaté Klasov, Baky, Holíc, etc. In the seventies and early eighties played the highest district competition, II. class of the district Dunajská Streda. The village of Potônske Lúky is located on the Danubian Lowland in the heart of Žitný Ostrov on both banks of the Little Danube. The flora and fauna of the village today is still relatively rich and diverse. In the cadastre of the settlement, among other things, protected plants grow (white berries, motherwort, juniper, lungwort, etc.). The river gives good preconditions for waterfowl populations. The water purity condition is improving. Proof of this is that crayfish have appeared in the Little Danube. Until recently, the largest bird in Central Europe, a drop, also nested in the cadastre of the village. Recently, the meadow eagle has been pleasingly breeding in the area of the village. The main source of the population in the ancient past was fishing, felling and processing of wood from floodplain forests, making troughs and operating a large number of watermills on the Little Danube. A major handicap for the municipality is the high unemployment rate of the working population - currently 30%.
