The village as an administrative unit was established in 1936 by merging the settlements of Vörösmajor (originally Apponyian, later Pálffy's estate), Jozefmajor and Németšók (Wiener-Welten estate). As part of the First Land Reform, 69 families were settled in these settlements, which were originally located in the cadastral areas of the villages of Štvrtok na Ostrove and Mierovo. The population in 1924 was 180, but already in 1929 it rose to 310.

The first Slovak school on Žitný ostrov was established in the Hviezdoslav colony. In 1938, of the 69 families living here, 21 were Slovak, 18 Moravian, 15 Czech, 14 Hungarian and 1 German. In the years 1938 - 1945, the village became part of Štvrtek na Ostrove. It was re-established as an independent village in 1945. The buildings of Pálffy Majer, the monument to PO Hviezdoslav from 1971 and the buildings of Maj. Wiener - Welten deserve attention in the village.
