Buchlov Castle is located 12 km west of Uherské Hradiště in the southeastern, central position of the Chřiby Mountains at an altitude of 540 m above sea level. The mountain range is delimited by three significant peaks - Holý kopec, Buchlov castle, Modla hill with the chapel of St. Barbara. From the geological point of view, the area belongs to the Carpathian geological system - the Rača unit of the Magura flysch formed by Paleogene claystones, sandstones and conglomerates.
