The most valuable architectural monument and symbol of Skalice is the Romanesque Rotunda of St. George. It stands on a small hill on the outskirts of the city and is one of the most beautiful Romanesque buildings in Slovakia. It was built as a castle church probably in the 12th century. It consists of a semicircular shrine and a circular nave, which have been preserved in their original form.
